Why it matters

Nearly everyone in prison comes home. We ask Texas to make every prison an accredited place to learn — job training and education that end in a recognized credential, open to everyone held there. A RAND review of decades of studies found people who took part in prison education had 43% lower odds of returning to prison than those who didn't, and that it can save money by keeping people from coming back.

What’s happened

Raised by residents — not yet carried to the county.

This is a petition to your elected officials — like the clipboard at the courthouse door. It does not put anything on the ballot; that takes the state’s official petition process. Signatures are counted, not verified — one per browser; the delivered copy removes duplicates. Like everything here, petitions can’t campaign for candidates or ballot measures, or name county staff.
